There are 4 phases of hair growth: Anagen (growth) → Catagen (transition) → Telogen (resting) → Kenogen (death).
Minoxidil stimulates hair growth by increasing the anagen (growth) phase, shortening the telogen (resting) phase, and increasing the blood/nutrient flow to the hair follicle via potassium channels. Minoxidil encourages hair already in telogen phase to shed early [called telogen effluvium or as we call it Shedding] and begin anagen phase [2021, 1983]. So don’t freak out and continue your journey with peace of mind.
